Talia Athey

Talia joined Minnwest Insurance Agency in November of 2024. She became licensed in Property and Casualty Insurance in December of 2024 and Life and Health Insurance in February of 2025. Talia was born and raised in Milbank, SD where she currently lives with her husband, Derek, three children, Landon, Owen, and Leah, and their cat Bill. Talia attended Minnesota School of Business where she graduated in 2011 with an Associate’s Degree in applied science in Veterinary Technology and later attended Capella University where she graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management. Talia spent her early career in the furniture protection plan industry where she spent 9 years as a claim specialist, team lead, quality assurance manager, trainer, and Director of Operations. She then transitioned her skills to the insurance industry and worked 3 years as an underwriting assistant.
Talia came to our agency looking for a career geared towards engaging with the local community on the front end and helping businesses and individuals meet their financial goals while protecting the things they care about. In her spare time, Talia enjoys being the Assistant Cubmaster to her local Cub Scout Pack, watching her children’s sports and various shenanigans, reading, being outdoors, hiking, and spending time with family.
